Oh my! I can hardly believe it’s November already! Before we all know the holiday season will be in full swing! Now, I don’t know how you feel about the holidays, I have mixed feelings, at best, and I am ambivalent at most, but, I am the first to admit that they are a time right for self reflection. Have to admit, my very favorite holiday all year long is Thanksgiving. Now, before you go freaking out that I love thanksgiving, let me just say that I don’t love it for the historical representation of it as a day that was originally commemorated as the exploitation of the native American people of North America. Believe it or not, I am quite a bit native American myself. If you don’t believe me, take a look at my photographs and look at my almond- shaped eyes and my high cheekbones, now imagine me with dark hair and dark eyes, can you picture it? Most people don’t believe me when I tell them that I’m Native American, but I assure you, I am. As a matter of fact, would you believe that I have Choctaw and Cherokee on both sides of my family. However, I am the first to admit that I am a bit of a Heinz 57. Back to thanksgiving! It is a holiday in my mind, just for giving thanks. And that, is why I love it. You see, with Christmas, it’s all about the pressure and the presents. But with thanksgiving there is no hype. It’s just all about the love and gratitude.
